Woodlands Estate - Potters Bar

Project Stage: Stage 2 & 3 – Concept Design & Outline Planning Application (September 2021 - April 2025)

Location: Green Belt countryside with Ancient Woodland and SSSI designations

Tasks Executed:

• Led and managed the concept design process alongside the consultant design team.

• Developed the Stage 2 design package, including concept masterplan, perspective sketches, and a comprehensive design report

• Prepared the Fee Proposal for further Work stages and Deliverables and submitted to the Client

• Progressed the project to Stage 3, producing rendered planning drawings with detailed annotations, and curated hard and soft landscape material palettes.

• I coordinated closely with the project ecologist to adapt the design to align with their recommendations and achieve the required 10% or more BNG.

• Liaised with the project arboriculturist to obtain Tree Health & Safety and AIA Reports, and contributed to the technical design for rerouting a section of the existing driveway through a portion of Ancient Woodland and SSSI.

• Addressed key design challenges with the project Architects, including TPO-protected trees and the relocation of the main dwelling to accommodate arboricultural constraints and level changes.

• Collaborated with the project architects to align the design layout with Green Belt policy restrictions and planning requirements

• Compiled a Landscape Statement and LEMP Report as part of the Planning Application

• Currently, as part of the planning discharge conditions, I am coordinating with a third-party ecologist in the preparation on a required HMMP Report.
